Two weeks away

In two weeks is our 10 year wedding anniversary!  I can't believe how quickly 10 years has gone by!!  Chris decided to go ahead and give me my anniversary present early since he knew that it would take awhile for it to get done.  For years I have wanted to redo my wedding set but we could never really afford to do it.  When we got married we were broke college kids who could only afford simple gold bands.  I've always wanted a diamond anniversary band and at our 5 year anniversary I looked at them but decided to wait until our 10th.  Chris wanted to surprise me with one this year but he thought that it would probably be a good idea if he let me pick it out.  He didn't realize just how big a disaster this would turn into!!  I made him go jewelry shopping every day for a week until I finally decided on the ones that I wanted.  I wanted a anniversary band that would go with my engagement ring which the diamond is from Chris's great grandmother (or is it great great grandmother).  So I decided on getting one with a milgrain finish which has more of an antique look to it. But when I went to look at them it didn't look right with just one.  After talking with the the sales girl we decided that it would be pretty if I got two of the bands in white gold and then my wedding set would be two toned.  I just couldn't make myself buy it right then so I shopped around.  This was the ring that I looked at 5 years earlier and couldn't make Chris buy it then.  I'm a very frugal person and I just had a hard time spending that kind of money.  I had finally narrowed it down between two places one had a cheaper ring with bigger carats and the other one had the ring that I really loved.  I spent a hour and a half going back and forth between the two places.
The cheaper ring.
The more expensive ring.
In the end I just couldn't make myself love the cheaper one and it just didn't sparkle like the more expensive one.  I knew if I would have gone with the cheaper one I would have regretted it.  Chris was so nice during the whole thing the only thing he told me was to get the ones that I really wanted plus I think he was ready for it all to be over with!  I absolutely love how it all turned out.  I've gotten tons of compliments on it already and I wouldn't change anything about it.  I love you so much Chris and thank you so much for my anniversary present, you are absolutely the best!!

It's really hard to get a really good photo of how it looks.  It sparks so much in person!! I suppose if I was using a regular camera and not my iPhone I'd get a better photo!

Fat Kid

This post was written by Chris on his blog but I thought that I would share it on here as well.  I'm very proud of him and I think his total weight loss is close to 25 lbs now!

As most of you know, I’m fat. I’m lazy, I like crappy food, I eat way too much. I’ve never been in what you would call good shape. Even in high school when I was involved in sports, I wasn’t in good shape. I was in good enough shape to play baseball, I cheated on all of the running we had to do. I blame Rodney for that one. I ran with him because he was slow too. He was also a senior so I could count like him and get away with it. I’ve tried to lose weight before and usually manage to succeed for about 2 weeks. Then I find a great reason to quit and give up. A month ago my mom got told she could either lose weight or go on insulin. I realized that day that if I didn’t get my fatness under control I would be in the same situation. I don’t really like the idea of going through that since I’ve seen it all my life with other relatives. So I decided I had to get serious. I started using the My Fitness Pal app, and convinced Vaden to run with me. The first day Kathleen and Vaden ran with me. To say it was embarrassing is an understatement. I was able to run about 100 feet and I was ready to quit. I’ve been running now 4-5 days a week for a solid month. I’ve lost 19 lbs as of last Friday. I managed to make it 2.75 miles in 35 minutes last Sunday. I’ve decided I’ll run my first 5K on July 21st. If all goes good this 5K will just be the beginning, Tough Mudder is calling my name in October 2013. I’ve got several goals for this whole mission. First I want to get my weight down to 180, thats only 70 lbs, and would be where I was when I moved to Fayetteville 11 years ago. I want to complete a 5K. I want to be healthy and live to see my nephews, Jakob and Camden,  grow up and maybe a child of our own one day. Thankfully I’ve got a good support system in Melonie, and a person who doesn’t hate running really slow in Vaden. Hopefully in 2 months I will write a post about losing 40 lbs and running a 5K in 30 minutes. We’ll see……

Baseball Windup

It seems just like yesterday that Razorback Baseball started but sadly the last home game was almost two weeks ago.  I'm kind of glad to see baseball season wrap since we'll have more free time but at the same time a little sad.  If we host a regional this year we won't be buying tickets since we are saving for our trip to Europe this September.  I love baseball season it's my absolute favorite sport to watch, so here's looking forward to next season!

Beautiful night at Baum Stadium!

The last two games were so hot that I had to wear shorts!
