Embellished Blue

Last June I posted a blog post called Dreaming talking about my big plans for our spare bedroom.  Well I finally got a huge leap on the room by finally painting it Embellished Blue.  I was really worried that it was going to be to bright but I absolutely LOVE how it all turned out.
I love how the color turned out!
I also decided to paint the bed in there black since I really don't like light colored furniture.  I know some people are going to be really upset that I painted wood instead of staining it but I wanted a black bed and it was cheaper for me to paint it.  Now the end tables that were in the room will eventually be stained.  But I've got to save up some money to do that, recover my childhood chest, get my dream light fixture and to buy new curtains.  All of that will have to wait until after we get back from Europe.
The finished product!!

Squished Face Dogs

Sunday night I received a call from MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue where we adopted Baxter from.  She said that the Rogers Animal Shelter had a Boston Terrier mix that had been turned in and they needed someone to transport him to the vet in Springdale before he went to be fostered in Des Moines, IA.  So Monday morning I headed to Rogers to pick up Herb, a Boston Terrier/Corgi mix.  He is such a sweet little boy who only wanted someone to love him!  It was really hard dropping him off and I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to let him go.  If you know of anyone who wants to adopt a Boston Terrier or who is looking for a dog please send them to the above links.
Loved his little Boston face.  He reminds me so much of Baxter!
I'm a firm believer that if anyone wants to buy a pet that they should either go to the animal shelter or go through a rescue organization.  There are plenty of pets there that need to find their forever homes.  If you are wanting to buy a pedigree dog you'd be surprised how many are turned into the shelter and to rescues!

If you can't tell by now I'm a dog lover and I really love squished faced dogs.  They are known as brachycephalic canines.  Last night I found a whole website devoted to squishy and snorty dogs.  I probably spent 30 minutes on it looking at all the pups!  If you are looking for a site to cheer you up check out Squishfaceddogs.com

Crystal Bridges Museum

Last month we finally got to go to Crystal Bridges Museum that opened in Bentonville.  Chris has been trying to get me to go for months and we finally had a chance to go.  I can't wait to go back and explore outside during Spring.  I had so much fun and I'm already ready to go back for a second visit.  I took a ton of photos but I only posted my favorites.
Norman Rockwell
Can you see all of the different faces?
Andy Warhol
Chris and one of his favorites: Bill Clinton
Angry birds!
Made from puzzle pieces.
Can you believe that that is made from spools of thread!

New Year's Eve 2011

I'm getting closer and closer to being caught up on our blog from the past few months.  Our friends James and Dwight came over for New Year's Eve last year.  We went out to eat at Shogun and then we came back to the house to ring in the New Year with some games.  Shogun wasn't as good as it was last year but the show was still pretty good to watch.

Christmas 2011

Christmas seemed to go by so fast last year.  It feels like we only had the Christmas decorations up for a week or so but we had them up for over a month.  I just can't believe how quick Christmas came and went.
We didn't go all out for Christmas last year because a lot of the lights broke.
We decided to do something different for our annual Christmas card photo.  Since we now have three dogs it's a little hard to get them all in the photo together and for them to behave nicely.  So we took individual photos of the pups and a photo of the two of us.  Here were the photos that we used in our Christmas card.
